Sustainability

20th Century Illuminations studio has observed the strictest standards with regards to sustainability from its beginning in 1985. Our studio building uses state of the art energy management systems and we recycle any and all items that can be recycled. We purchase as many “green” office products as is possible. For those items which we cannot find to meet “green” standards we continually make requests of suppliers and manufacturers that we would like to purchase “green” products. We do this with letters, phone calls, and as many requests as we can make. Surprisingly enough sometimes our requests are followed up with, and occasionally help to foster better business practices!

This year we are proud to be new members as a “Climate Cooling Business” with Trees for the Future. We also make additional contributions to this organization who have now planted over 50 million trees around the world in areas where desertification and forest mis-management has caused enviornmental damage to healthy forest communities. Check them out! www.treesftf.org/

We are also members of the Forest Stewardship Council in the Northeast Environmental Chamber. The FSC is a huge international not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. The certification standards set by the FSC and their chain of responsibility is recognized around the world for its trade mark assurance and accreditation for all organizations intersted in responsible forestry. We are honored to have been asked to serve as a member and hope that our contributions will help to create sustainable forest management world wide. www.fsc.org/

Our current contribution campaign is honoring the Ocean Conservancy with our lovely new item “Wind Song” illumination. Please visit our Contribution Campaign section to learn more about our efforts and the Ocean Conservancy. We have made this commitment in the sprit of sustainablity for our world’s oceans!
